Chloe- San Diego, California Senior graduate 2019/Christy Golder Photography

I’m so happy Chloe reached out to me about shooting her Senior photos!! I’ve known this girl for years, I worked with her mom and watched her grow into this beautiful, confident, strong woman. When I asked about her session and what places bring her joy, she said some where in the mountains with the sun shining on me. We started in the studio then went outside with a little snow on the ground and a winter chill in the air. This session was magic! I stretched my creativity and had a blast with posing and directing my first shoot for 2019!

Chloe, thank you again for trusting me with your senior photos!! I can’t wait to see where you will go in this life!

Just when you think you know love, something little comes along to remind you just how big it really is

I still remember the excitement, joy and pure happiness I felt when I first found out I was pregnant with my first baby. Pregnancy however, was not my thing, don’t get me wrong its a beautiful miracle but I wasn’t a happy camper. My second time around wasn’t as difficult as the first but I have a special appreciation and love for preggo ladies because I know it isn’t always easy.

Oh boy is it soooo worth alllll those difficulties, pain and sacrifice. Once you lay your eyes on that precious baby, your life will never be the same again.

Stephanie and Zach, I cannot begin to express my joy for you both. Be prepared to have your lives change forever, in the best way possible.

Carly-Cake Smash

Oh how quickly that first year goes by! I love capturing first birthday photos, especially when cake is involved. This session was shot in the studio using a few different setups, I always recommend shooting some in a cute outfit before cake is put in front of your little, this way we get more than one look for the session!

I love to capture this special birthday, click the link down below to get more information!

Copeland Family

Family isn’t defined only by last names or by blood; its defined by commitment and love. It means showing up when they need it most. It means having each other’s backs. It means choosing to love each other even on those days when you struggle to like each other. It means never giving up on each other!
— Dave Willis

I have been photographing the Copeland family since their oldest was just a little newborn. I am so honored to be trusted with each and every family I capture. I adore shooting families and realize how incredibly important it is to capture each stage. I strive for my photos to tell more than words can. My goal at each session is to capture you just as you are, come as you are.

These images will be cherished when your littles have littles of their own. Often times looking back at my own family photos has brought so much appreciation and I am reminded what is the most important thing in my life when my eyes gets blurry and I lose focus.

Ghazi and Viri-Wedding

I had the pleasure of capturing THEE most insanely beautifully styled wedding I've seen back in April. Not only was this couple beautiful but every detail was perfect. The location was something out of a dream and the florals were over the top amazing!
I'm so honored to be apart of one of the most important day of someones lives! I absolutely LOVE my job.

reading letters they wrote to each other before the ceremony, I love that they decided to not see each other beforehand but to read a special note. There were tears.

If I could do any other job I would be a florist, except for the fact that it takes SKILLLZZ to do that job!! Like florists are sooo talented!

Second shooting for Katherine Beth Photography

Life Lately-personal post

Hi!! Hope your having a fabulous thursday! Mine is going great except for the fact that I have a cold, but I'm sitting on the couch all morning with coffee in hand working, so I can't complain too much ;)
It's been so long since I've done a personal post, I love being able to look back at these to see how much has changed and how much my babies have grown.
Hunter had his spring break about a week ago and got 2 whole weeks off from school! We had a few days out and about doing fun things but mostly stayed home. We had fun Easter morning going through the kids baskets and getting ready for Easter at my mother in laws.

I was feeling inspired by a Pinterest find and decided to make these dirt cupcakes with chocolate covered strawberries, they were delish and super cute right!?!

Went to visit my big bro in Temecula one day! How adorable is my niece?!

Hunter has been doing soccer for the spring season and so far likes it, here's some photos at one of his saturday games.
Its pretty cute watching all these 4-6 year olds chasing after this ball, there's basically no white lines when your this little.

River has been loving her ballet classes and is getting really good!

She has also become quite the chicken whisperer, which is major progress from when we first brought these girls home. She asks me a couple times a day "Mama, can we go check on the baby chicks?" its pretty cute. We finished the coop this past weekend, except for a few minor things that need to be done in the future. I will post more pictures of that soon because it turned out super adorable!!

Kleinertz Family - in home newborn session

Shooting in home newborn family sessions (whew, thats a mouthfull) gives me allll the feels!  The Kleinertz family invited me into their sweet home and introduced me to their brand new baby boy, Remy. How cute is that name!?! Keep scrolling to see more of this adorable family plus I wrote a few tips when planning your in home newborn session.

Thank you again Kleinertz family for having me in your home to capture this special time for your beautiful family.

I wanted to share a few tips when planning an in home newborn session that might help prepare and give you ideas when planning for yours!
When to plan your session? I recommend within the first, at least, three weeks after baby is born. You want to wait until after you have been home and settled for a few days from the hospital but don't wait too long, babies tend to stop sleeping all day long and will get into routines and begin to be more fussy on a daily basis, sorry new mamas! I have shot plenty of one month old babies in their homes and it goes well so please don't let this detour you, its only my recommendation.

Make sure baby is fed and has a clean diaper before your photographer arrives. Have any other family members dressed and ready before this as well. It's a good idea, if you have other littles to make sure their bellies are full before your session.

What to wear for an in home session? I always recommend some comfy clothes when doing an in home session! It's typically not the session to pick out those fancy dresses or have your guy in slacks. I recommend starting with Mom, when you are comfortable and feeling good in what your wearing it shines through in the photos. Pick colors and patterns that would compliment your homes decor! I prefer a neutral palette but if you like bright bold colors than you do you! Remember when dressing a family, matchy matchy doesn't work and is a little old fashioned. Think coordinating, choose 2-3 colors and work with what you have. You can mix patterns as long as they compliment eachother.

You don't need to have a gorgeous designer home to do an in home session. All a photographer needs is a space next to a door, window with good lighting and we will work our magic. I've even moved peoples furniture around to get just the right angle or wall I want to use. So please don't let this stop you from doing an in home session. Nothing beats the comfort and cozy of your own home and to have that captured in photos with the ones you love will be something you will cherish forever.

Aurora's first birthday

I was so happy when my girl Jenn reached out to me about shooting her daughter's first birthday!! Little one's grow up so fast and its such a priveledge to be able to capture it for others!  We did a cake smash session in the studio with the most beautiful and tasiest cakes I've ever had, made by one of my neighbors!! She does cakes on the side, let me know if you want her info!
I set this all up with all things pink, of course, and it turned out so cute!!

A couple weeks later was birthday girls unicorn party. Props to her mama for putting this together!! Planning parties is no joke!

Finley family, I hope these photos bring you joy and fond memories looking back as she grows each year. Congrats on making it through the first year with your beautiful daughter!

Cauliflower Pizza

Ok, heres my secret to EASY cauliflower pizza! Riced cauliflower, preferably from Trader Joes, will save you so much time. Putting this blog post together I realized I didn't take many step by step photos, but you shouldn't need too many this is an easy recipe. I am not a food blogger so bare with me ;)

1 cup riced cauliflower
2 eggs
about 1/3 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
2 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano

Mix all these ingredients together and form little patties on a baking sheet. Bake in oven at 425 for about 15ish minutes or until golden brown, but don't overcook because you will be putting them back into the oven with the toppings.

they should look something like this before you put all the toppings on. Here's the part I skipped, showing you everything I put on mine. I figured everyone likes there pizza different, there isn't just one way to do it.
I used pesto sauce instead of marinara, then topped with spinach, bell peppers, grape tomatoes, feta and a little more mozzarella. I put the pizza back in the oven for maybe 5 minutes, just to let the cheese melt and topped with crushed red peppers after because I like my food spicy!!
That's it!!! Now here's, probably more than necessary, a few pictures of the same thing at different angles (LOL).
Enojy!!!

Finley family

I had the great opportunity to capture so many families in 2017, I honestly feel so blessed to get asked to do this! An old friend reached out to me for a family session as well as first birthday photos for their beautiful little girl. Finley family, thank you again for entrusting me with such special memories!

Thomason Family

Thomason Family, thank you so much for trusting me with capturing some beautiful, special photos for you to cherish. Nichole has quickly become one of my close friends since meeting her about a year ago, bonus; we're pretty much neighbors!! Ok, well not that close but they too live in our little mountain town of Pine Valley so we took advantage of our gorgeous surroundings and shot up the hill from their house! I absolutely love capturing the connection between a family and feel so blessed to be able to do so for friends.

Tom & Jackie - Maternity

It was such a pleasure to meet and capture a special time in Tom and Jackie's life, getting ready to welcome their little baby girl soon. We had so much fun shooting around Coronado at the Hotel Del, Jackie looked absolutely stunning in her two dresses that complimented her baby bump so well. I made the flower crown to go with both looks.
One of my favorite parts about shooting them was how much they laughed together, they radiate love and affection for eachother and I know that baby girl is going to have some awesome parents.

Pumpkin Patch

So we've been talking about wanting to take a drive up to Julian, CA during the fall season. Spontaneously Saturday morning we hit the road early, even taking the back road, to get there!
There's something about being spontaneous and adventurous, some of my favorite memories were unplanned.
So glad I decided to bring my real camera to document.

If you look close you can see our little town of Pine Valley in this first photo!

Boudoir Styled Shoot

I put together my very first styled boudoir shoot with the help of Sarah of beauty bespoken, who is a fabulous makeup artist. Boudoir photography has quickly become one of my favorite things to shoot, I can't get enough and I love showing women how beautiful they are!

We had a florist lined up but unfortunately at the last minute couldn't deliver the flowers. I love putting together arrangements, although I am not a professional, I had fun putting the bouquets together. All photos were done in my home studio, located in Pine Valley CA.

South Family

This family is so near and dear to me and this session is one of my favorites from this year. I've been photographing the South fam since little Logan was just a tiny newborn. He has grown into a sweet boy with a funny personality and so full of energy!!
Thank you again for trusting me with such precious memories.

Lake Tahoe

Well I can finally check Lake Tahoe off my bucket list! I can't wait to go back again, maybe next year?! There was so much to see and do and great for families. We explored Cascade lake waterfall, Popes and Sand Harbor beaches, Truckee River, the local farmers market, plus had a gorgeous/huge mansion for all 20 plus of my hubby's extended family.

On our last day there we learned there was a black bear just hanging out all day in our neighbors tree!! Its hard to see but its in the middle tree.

My favorite spot on our trip was east Lake Tahoe in Sand Harbor beach. The water there was unbelievably clear blue, I just had to jump in, climb some rocks and explore.
Be adventurous ;)

Daniel & Abby - Engaged

This engagement session was such a dream to photograph, I was pretty excited when Abby said she wanted to shoot their photos at Balboa Park. There's soooo many spots there to choose from it can actually be a little overwhelming! Plus I didn't want to capture photos focused on the location but rather this gorgeous couple and their sweet connection, I think the photos tell a beautiful story of their relationship. Daniel and Abby thank you so much for the privilege of capturing your love story.

I also loved that they wanted to include their two fur babies! Incorporating your personality and life into your session is something that I encourage all my clients to do!

Foltz Family-family/anniversary session

I just adore capturing families, those real and raw moments that you can't pose or make up just bring big warm fuzzies to my heart. I'm pretty sure after this session I was a little sore from chasing these two busy kids around (I really need to workout more), Vanessa I give you props girl for keeping up with them, you are a rockstar mama!
Vanessa and Tyler (my cuz "cousin") were also getting ready to celebrate their 10 year wedding anniversary and wanted some photos of just the two of them. I absolutely, like 100%, think that getting photos together shouldn't stop after the wedding. Celebrate your relationship, the love and strength that it takes to make a marriage work and last. Its beautiful and should always be recognized.

I'll stop jabbering so you can look at all these sweet shots from this session.
Thanks again Foltz fam for giving me the privilege to capture these precious memories for you.

Mommy and Me sessions-Melissa and Sonny

I'm finally getting around to blogging the rest of this adorable mommy and me session with my friend Melissa and her son Sonny! I had so much fun planning and styling this session this special session. I found the skirt on Amazon, the floral arrangements were made by Rebecca Barney:Barney Designs and we shot the outdoor photos in my neighborhood of Pine Valley!

One of my goals for this session was to give Mom her time to shine. I was going for kind of an ethereal forest princess feel and my good friend and amazing tattoo artist Jenna helped with the direction.
