Liberator Family/San Diego Family Photographer/Balboa Park

I am still obsessing over this family’s session back from summer at the beautiful Balboa Park here in San Diego! I’ll be honest Balboa Park isn’t necessarily my to go place for photos, mostly because everyone and their Mom shoots there but I have grown to love it and all of the little “hidden spots” I’ve found.

Also, can we talk about wardrobe for a second?! It is hard finding outfits for the whole fam that coordinate well and look good in photos!!!

This family nailed it, I love how they aren’t matching but everything just flows. Speaking of flowing, Ladies, dresses with bounce, movement look the best in photos.

I hope you all are having a wonderfully fabulous day!

Just when you think you know love, something little comes along to remind you just how big it really is

I still remember the excitement, joy and pure happiness I felt when I first found out I was pregnant with my first baby. Pregnancy however, was not my thing, don’t get me wrong its a beautiful miracle but I wasn’t a happy camper. My second time around wasn’t as difficult as the first but I have a special appreciation and love for preggo ladies because I know it isn’t always easy.

Oh boy is it soooo worth alllll those difficulties, pain and sacrifice. Once you lay your eyes on that precious baby, your life will never be the same again.

Stephanie and Zach, I cannot begin to express my joy for you both. Be prepared to have your lives change forever, in the best way possible.

Copeland Family

Family isn’t defined only by last names or by blood; its defined by commitment and love. It means showing up when they need it most. It means having each other’s backs. It means choosing to love each other even on those days when you struggle to like each other. It means never giving up on each other!
— Dave Willis

I have been photographing the Copeland family since their oldest was just a little newborn. I am so honored to be trusted with each and every family I capture. I adore shooting families and realize how incredibly important it is to capture each stage. I strive for my photos to tell more than words can. My goal at each session is to capture you just as you are, come as you are.

These images will be cherished when your littles have littles of their own. Often times looking back at my own family photos has brought so much appreciation and I am reminded what is the most important thing in my life when my eyes gets blurry and I lose focus.

Ghazi and Viri-Wedding

I had the pleasure of capturing THEE most insanely beautifully styled wedding I've seen back in April. Not only was this couple beautiful but every detail was perfect. The location was something out of a dream and the florals were over the top amazing!
I'm so honored to be apart of one of the most important day of someones lives! I absolutely LOVE my job.

reading letters they wrote to each other before the ceremony, I love that they decided to not see each other beforehand but to read a special note. There were tears.

If I could do any other job I would be a florist, except for the fact that it takes SKILLLZZ to do that job!! Like florists are sooo talented!

Second shooting for Katherine Beth Photography

Corrao Family

It's been a minute since I've blogged, this family session was one that I wanted to get up on the blog asap! We had so much fun shooting, mama was super prepared with some adorable props for her girl and I'm so happy they chose to do photos in my neighborhood!
My fam is getting ready to wake up at 2am and drive to Idaho for a vaca!! I'm pretty excited to have more time with my people, visiting framily plus I'm getting my photos done!!!
Here's to an amazing week!!

I can't get enough of this cuteness!

If your wanting to get your family photos done, please reach out! The fall season is almost here and I'm filling up with sessions already!
I'd love to capture some beautiful memories for you.

Culver Family-Extended Family Session

Goodmorning!!! I can't believe its been so long since I blogged last, time flies when your having fun!
I'm sitting here in my dining room, sipping my coffee, writing this blog post as my two littles sit next to me drawing and talking about what they are drawing/ coloring to eachother. This right here is my happy place, its not always easy and I could complain about how much they don't get along, are sometimes super defiant or how many chores I have to do and things that are on my to do list. Instead I'm sitting here content because I am so incredibly blessed and I don't want to take that for granted.

I had the best experience with this extended family at their session and it ended 2017 leaving me feeling so happy that I get to do this!! Capturing the connection, the love, the special lifelong bond that families share is something I still and will always cherish.

Here is the Culver family, most of them live in Hawaii (rough life huh?!) they came out to california for Christmas and reached out about a family session in my mountains!!
We had such a fun time laughing, everyone was just super easy going and really just enjoyed their time together, even with all three little ones!
Culver family thank you again for having me document your beautiful family and capture some pretty special memories.

Finley family

I had the great opportunity to capture so many families in 2017, I honestly feel so blessed to get asked to do this! An old friend reached out to me for a family session as well as first birthday photos for their beautiful little girl. Finley family, thank you again for entrusting me with such special memories!

Tom & Jackie - Maternity

It was such a pleasure to meet and capture a special time in Tom and Jackie's life, getting ready to welcome their little baby girl soon. We had so much fun shooting around Coronado at the Hotel Del, Jackie looked absolutely stunning in her two dresses that complimented her baby bump so well. I made the flower crown to go with both looks.
One of my favorite parts about shooting them was how much they laughed together, they radiate love and affection for eachother and I know that baby girl is going to have some awesome parents.

South Family

This family is so near and dear to me and this session is one of my favorites from this year. I've been photographing the South fam since little Logan was just a tiny newborn. He has grown into a sweet boy with a funny personality and so full of energy!!
Thank you again for trusting me with such precious memories.

Daniel & Abby - Engaged

This engagement session was such a dream to photograph, I was pretty excited when Abby said she wanted to shoot their photos at Balboa Park. There's soooo many spots there to choose from it can actually be a little overwhelming! Plus I didn't want to capture photos focused on the location but rather this gorgeous couple and their sweet connection, I think the photos tell a beautiful story of their relationship. Daniel and Abby thank you so much for the privilege of capturing your love story.

I also loved that they wanted to include their two fur babies! Incorporating your personality and life into your session is something that I encourage all my clients to do!

Foltz Family-family/anniversary session

I just adore capturing families, those real and raw moments that you can't pose or make up just bring big warm fuzzies to my heart. I'm pretty sure after this session I was a little sore from chasing these two busy kids around (I really need to workout more), Vanessa I give you props girl for keeping up with them, you are a rockstar mama!
Vanessa and Tyler (my cuz "cousin") were also getting ready to celebrate their 10 year wedding anniversary and wanted some photos of just the two of them. I absolutely, like 100%, think that getting photos together shouldn't stop after the wedding. Celebrate your relationship, the love and strength that it takes to make a marriage work and last. Its beautiful and should always be recognized.

I'll stop jabbering so you can look at all these sweet shots from this session.
Thanks again Foltz fam for giving me the privilege to capture these precious memories for you.

Three FAQ about photography sessions

Hi! Happy almost friday! I absolutely love the weekends because it always means family time and usually a photography session or event. I've had some beautiful sessions all around San Diego recently with perfect weather, right now is the best time (before it gets too hot) to have photos taken. Then again we always seem to have the perfect weather here!
This post it meant to help answer a few questions I get regularly, in hopes to make it easier for you to schedule your desired session with me! Again, if you have any questions about a session please don't hesitate to ask! I'm even happy to take you out for coffee to meet in person!

The first question/concern I'm going to address (also the most uncomfortable topic to talk about, so we'll get it out of the way first) that might be holding you back from a session is

"I don't have the extra money to book a session!"

I totally understand not always having extra money for things that aren't in our budget. My best piece of advice for this is to plan ahead! So we're in the month of June, lets say you want to book a session for sometime in September, this gives you 3 months of setting aside some money. I require a deposit to book any session, typically $50-100, and that deposit will hold your date and time for you, so when I recommend booking your session now this doesn't mean you need to come up with all the money right now. I also accept credit cards now through honeybook.com which has helped tremendously with my workflow, contracts, and even other contacts in the creative industry.

The second question/concern I want to address is

"I don't have the time to set aside for a session"

Life gets busy, things come up and before we know it we haven't gotten around to doing all the things we wanted to! Again, plan ahead, this way we have something on the calendar and can plan life around this. Planning ahead can also set your mind at ease about saving money, finding outfits and sitting down with me to plan your perfect session!

The final question/concern I want to talk about has to do with our body image, not wanting to be in photos because we "need to lose a few more pounds", "hate the way my body, hair, face, mind is after having babies", "not liking my smile", "my double chin", "I'm not tan enough, skinny enough, pretty enough"

DON'T BELIEVE THE LIES WE TELL OURSELVES!!

I have said all these things at some point, I'm still a work in progress, but learning to love myself the way I am, double chin and all ;)
Please don't let this be the reason that's holding you back from getting photos done. I've had several of my clients tell me after a session, even boudoir, that they are so happy I captured this time in their lives and were happy they didn't let these issues or concerns hold them back.
You won't get this time of your life back, time passes, kids grow, people change and your photos are such a beautiful, tangible way of remembering. I've gotten so much joy looking through old and recent photos of me with my loved ones that those concerns don't even matter at this point.

Daydreamer Workshop

One of my big goals for 2017 was to attend a workshop. Education is an ongoing important part of not only business but in our everyday life. I knew that attending a workshop was something I needed and wanted to do in order to keep learning, improving my skills and gaining knowledge that would benefit my photography business.
I found the DAYDREAMERS WORKSHOP on one of the facebook groups I'm in. Sam and Erica, husband and wife photography team, were the ones behind putting on this workshop that approximately 12 photographers attended. What intrigued me about this particular workshop, besides the fact that its pretty much the only local one for me, was the description.

WHAT ON EARTH IS ADVENTURE PHOTOGRAPHY?

So glad you asked! Adventure photography is just that, an adventure! We learn best by stepping out of our comfort zones and "go-to" locations for photography. In this workshop, we are going to venture out into places not usually traveled to explore and create some epic pictures.

One of the many aspects I LOVE about photography is the adventure in it! Each session, environment, clients, experience is different and an exciting unexpected adventure for me!
I had such an amazing time getting to know other photographers, shooting with them, networking, learning how they do things and creating new friendships!
All the vendors that participated with their goods/services killed it too! Thank you all for the experience and good time!

James & Brianna-Engagement

This couple, all the heart eyes for them. It was such a joy and pleasure to shoot their engagement photos! It helps that they are both good looking and so in love, makes my job easy ;)I've known James for a very long time, he is a good friend of my hubby, and turns out I knew Brianna from my past, she was good friends with my little sister back in junior high!
One thing stood out to me while hanging out with them, was how attentive and caring James was toward Brianna. They have such a sweet, genuine and tender love that started out with a friendship, I'm so happy they found each other. Congratulations on your happy ever after!
I was so happy to work with another creative who provided the gorgeous flower crown Brianna is wearing, Ashley is currently building her portfolio so please let me know if you need any floral work and I can provide you with her info!
Prepare for photo overload!! These were too good not to share.

First session of 2017

Happy New Year!! 11 days late.........We fully enjoyed our Christmas, New Years and all that time off to rest and reflect on this past year. I had my first family session for the year with Becca and her family, a friend that I grew up with at church. It was so fun to reconnect and hang out with her family, She has the sweetest most playful kiddos and recently got married to Dominic. They picked out the most beautiful spot for their session and the sunset was a photographer's dream.

I'm so excited for what 2017 has in store for my photography and truly feel like I am living out one of God's calling for my life. I loved how every single picture turned out from this session but picked only a few to share. Please contact me about scheduling a session for you!

David & Brittany-Trash the dress/Anniversary session

When my sister in law asked me to take trash the dress photos out at our summer family vacation destination on the River in Yuma, I got giddy with excitement! We had fun planning this together and I got to make the flower crown for her to wear! David and Brittany are not only family but some of our closest friends and have given us some valuable advice from a marriage and child raising standpoint. This year they celebrated 4 years of marriage and continue to have a strong friendship which is where their relationship was established. Love you guys and are so happy we get to do life with you.

Happy Friday!

I wanted to share a few images I captured two weeks ago of our friends wedding in Mexico. We had such a great time with lots of friends relaxing, talking, snorkeling and fishing. I didn't take a ton of pictures because I was enjoying my vacation so much!

Congratulations Mike and Kim, thank you for the awesome experience and memories! We love you guys :)

My friend Becca, Had fun hanging out and catching up with you!
