Getting ready for Christmas

I wish it could be Christmas everyday.

From the glow of the twinkling lights to the excitement of Christmas morning, this time of year brings so much joy and warmth.

The Holiday season has always been my favorite time of the whole year, since having my own kiddos the joy this season brings has grown ten times. Seeing everything through they're eyes is so special and drives me to give them a magical and memorable Christmas each year.

One of my fondest memories of my grandma was baking cookies and seeing her house decorated for Christmas, it was so magical. She had beautiful hand crotched ornaments made by her and trinkets from Germany where she grew up.

When I was a kid, Christmas was all about the magic and wonder, being an adult I now understand why all the grown ups were so stressed out around the holidays! There's a lot involved, from the parties to making sure you get all the gifts and other things checked off your list, plus as a photographer this is my busy season!

Let's remember what this Holiday is all about and focus on what's most important. Its too easy to get caught up in the material and business of our schedules but lets stop to really soak in all the warmth, magical, coziness of it all.

From my family to yours we want to wish you all the very merriest Christmas!

All I want for Christmas is Peace, Joy and Love and maybe some snow. Its in the forecast this weekend and I can't contain my excitement, one of the reasons we moved out of the city and into our mountain town.

Dawood Family

One of the many reasons I was sooooo excited to move to our new home in the mountains was all of the beautiful spots for photos!! I had a mini session with the Dawood Family at Pine Valley Community Park a couple weeks ago and was really happy with all their cute family photos. This Mama is the sweetest and her kiddos were such amazing little models for me! I only have a few more dates available for mini sessions before Christmas, I will be taking December off from shooting to spend time with family. So please send me an email here to schedule!
Happy Monday!

its the most wonderful time of the year!

Well here we are 2 weeks after Christmas and I'm just getting this blog post's naptime and I'm sitting here with a cup of coffee finally writing this instead of resting (because that's what you do when your toddlers are sleeping, duh). Better late than never I say! One of my unwritten goals this year is to blog more, I know I say that every time I blog but I really love that I can have an online journal of photos and memories written down to look back on.

I hope you all had a holly jolly Christmas with your loved ones. We had fun picking out a potted tree at the tree farm that we can plant in our yard after Christmas. We enjoyed holidays with lots of Christmas music, making lots of yummy treats, decorating the house, walking around Christmas tree circle to look at lights, the parade and lots of family time. The Christmas season is so magical when you have little ones, they make it so much more fun. Starting new traditions that we can look forward to year after year. Unfortunately I got a terrible stomach bug and was in bed all day Christmas Eve, finally getting out of bed Christmas morning.

Here's to a happy New Year filled with wonderful moments and memories to last a lifetime and maybe a few goals to be made ;) My baby sister is on her way to San Diego to visit for a little over a week! So excited to spend time with her and family.

Outfit Ideas~Ladies!

I put together a few images of clothing ideas for my clients that ask "what should I wear to a photo session?" I am not advertising for any of these companies, only showing you examples of some of my favorites, therefore I didn't put any links to the website. I did find the images from forever 21 (my favorite store!), express, anthropologie, and pinterest.
Layers and colors make photos interesting, I always tell my clients add lots of layers including jewelry, scarves, jackets, vests, belts, boots, painted nails, bold prints, cute hair! Remember to stay true to your style and vibe, you want to look comfortable and natural in your photos. Please email me to book a session

The Stowells ~ San Diego Portrait Photography

Ever since day one my husband's family has welcomed me with open arms and warm hearts. I have always been part of the family even before we were married! One of his wonderful cousin's Stephanie and I have always been close friends, I have been so blessed to have good relationships with all my family.

Stephanie and her hubby Zach invited me last weekend to Seaworld to take a few christmas photos. We had a great time wondering around the park finding great spots for photos. Here's a few from our afternoon with Shamu and all the other sea animals.

haha.....we like to have fun :)

The reason for the season

Christmas is in one week!! Can you believe it!?!? I feel like I have been running around like a chicken with its head cut off, working, shopping for presents, getting ready for parties, holiday cards (which I haven't even finished making!!). Why do we all get so caught up in all the business and hustle and bustle of the holidays!?

I was reminded the other day to STOP running around, enjoy this time of year and celebrate what its all about. I'm pretty sure I won't get in trouble if I don't send out christmas cards this year ;) although I do want to mail them out.
Anyway I want to wish everyone a very happy early christmas, remember to enjoy each day starting now and celebrate what this special holiday time is all about, cherish your family and friends and remember Jesus is the reason for the season.
