Tessman Family//San Diego Family Photography

Shooting with families is something I hold very near and dear to my heart. Watching the interaction, connection and love flow through each person and the whole group is pretty special. Of course we all have our issues and quirks, no family is perfect but isn’t that what makes it so beautiful!?

Luke's First Birthday Session//Cake Smash//San Diego Children's Photographer

Have I mentioned before how much I LOVE shooting first birthday cake smashes!?!? All of my little birthday client’s come to the studio and I custom order the yummiest and cutest cakes from Donalee. We start with some portraits in their nice clothes then move onto the fun, messy part!! I keep these sessions simple and easy for the littles, typically shoot them playing with a toy or capture them crawling or walking around.

Luke Copeland turned ONE in april and his mama picked the cutest farmer/cowboy theme! I was pretty excited that he LOVED his cake, not all little ones know what to do with a massive cake in front of them!!

“If I know what love is, it is because of you.”

Becoming a Mom 6 years ago has been the biggest blessing and most rewarding jobs ever. This lovely mama is about to have not one, not two, but three beautiful girls to mother. I’m so happy I was able to capture such a special time for Sophia with her oldest daughter, Aria. I remember wanting to soak up every minute with my first before my second was born.

This beautiful, intimate mother daughter session has inspired me to do so many more sessions like this in the studio. I have an opportunity for these on May 4th, I’m hosting Mother’s Day mini sessions. Spots are filling up quick and I would love to be able to give this beautiful gift to as many mamas as possible. There is a button at the bottom of this post to inquire about booking.

Chloe- San Diego, California Senior graduate 2019/Christy Golder Photography

I’m so happy Chloe reached out to me about shooting her Senior photos!! I’ve known this girl for years, I worked with her mom and watched her grow into this beautiful, confident, strong woman. When I asked about her session and what places bring her joy, she said some where in the mountains with the sun shining on me. We started in the studio then went outside with a little snow on the ground and a winter chill in the air. This session was magic! I stretched my creativity and had a blast with posing and directing my first shoot for 2019!

Chloe, thank you again for trusting me with your senior photos!! I can’t wait to see where you will go in this life!

Just when you think you know love, something little comes along to remind you just how big it really is

I still remember the excitement, joy and pure happiness I felt when I first found out I was pregnant with my first baby. Pregnancy however, was not my thing, don’t get me wrong its a beautiful miracle but I wasn’t a happy camper. My second time around wasn’t as difficult as the first but I have a special appreciation and love for preggo ladies because I know it isn’t always easy.

Oh boy is it soooo worth alllll those difficulties, pain and sacrifice. Once you lay your eyes on that precious baby, your life will never be the same again.

Stephanie and Zach, I cannot begin to express my joy for you both. Be prepared to have your lives change forever, in the best way possible.

Copeland Family

Family isn’t defined only by last names or by blood; its defined by commitment and love. It means showing up when they need it most. It means having each other’s backs. It means choosing to love each other even on those days when you struggle to like each other. It means never giving up on each other!
— Dave Willis

I have been photographing the Copeland family since their oldest was just a little newborn. I am so honored to be trusted with each and every family I capture. I adore shooting families and realize how incredibly important it is to capture each stage. I strive for my photos to tell more than words can. My goal at each session is to capture you just as you are, come as you are.

These images will be cherished when your littles have littles of their own. Often times looking back at my own family photos has brought so much appreciation and I am reminded what is the most important thing in my life when my eyes gets blurry and I lose focus.

Corrao Family

It's been a minute since I've blogged, this family session was one that I wanted to get up on the blog asap! We had so much fun shooting, mama was super prepared with some adorable props for her girl and I'm so happy they chose to do photos in my neighborhood!
My fam is getting ready to wake up at 2am and drive to Idaho for a vaca!! I'm pretty excited to have more time with my people, visiting framily plus I'm getting my photos done!!!

Finley family

I had the great opportunity to capture so many families in 2017, I honestly feel so blessed to get asked to do this! An old friend reached out to me for a family session as well as first birthday photos for their beautiful little girl. Finley family, thank you again for entrusting me with such special memories!

Thomason Family

Thomason Family, thank you so much for trusting me with capturing some beautiful, special photos for you to cherish. Nichole has quickly become one of my close friends since meeting her about a year ago, bonus; we're pretty much neighbors!! Ok, well not that close but they too live in our little mountain town of Pine Valley so we took advantage of our gorgeous surroundings and shot up the hill from their house! I absolutely love capturing the connection between a family and feel so blessed to be able to do so for friends.

Boudoir Styled Shoot

We had a florist lined up but unfortunately at the last minute couldn't deliver the flowers. I love putting together arrangements, although I am not a professional, I had fun putting the bouquets together. All photos were done in my home studio, located in Pine Valley CA.

South Family

This family is so near and dear to me and this session is one of my favorites from this year. I've been photographing the South fam since little Logan was just a tiny newborn. He has grown into a sweet boy with a funny personality and so full of energy!!
Thank you again for trusting me with such precious memories.

Being outside with your kiddos can give you life again. It's all those little unplanned moments and days that make up some of my most fondest memories. Showing my kiddos the world around them makes my heart happy and fulfilled.
This day wasn't anything super special but I loved getting out with my kiddos and mama to enjoy a beautiful San Diego day. If you haven't been to this park yet, you must go. I wouldn't recommend it for little ones, even River can't get up this hill by herself to get up to the slide, Its right outside of the San Diego County Administration Center. Tomorrow we are hitting up the zoo with my mama in law! Where are some of your favorite places to visit/explore with your littles? I'd love some new ideas, insp, etc. Enjoy the rest of this week!!

Love that I found this!!! Yeah I don't get out much, The Rising Tide Society is a community built to inspire creatives and this is their moto! Love it!

First session of 2017

Happy New Year!! 11 days late.........We fully enjoyed our Christmas, New Years and all that time off to rest and reflect on this past year. I had my first family session for the year with Becca and her family, a friend that I grew up with at church. It was so fun to reconnect and hang out with her family, She has the sweetest most playful kiddos and recently got married to Dominic. They picked out the most beautiful spot for their session and the sunset was a photographer's dream.

I'm so excited for what 2017 has in store for my photography and truly feel like I am living out one of God's calling for my life. I loved how every single picture turned out from this session but picked only a few to share. Please contact me about scheduling a session for you!

Getting ready for Christmas

I wish it could be Christmas everyday.

From the glow of the twinkling lights to the excitement of Christmas morning, this time of year brings so much joy and warmth.

The Holiday season has always been my favorite time of the whole year, since having my own kiddos the joy this season brings has grown ten times. Seeing everything through they're eyes is so special and drives me to give them a magical and memorable Christmas each year.

One of my fondest memories of my grandma was baking cookies and seeing her house decorated for Christmas, it was so magical. She had beautiful hand crotched ornaments made by her and trinkets from Germany where she grew up.

When I was a kid, Christmas was all about the magic and wonder, being an adult I now understand why all the grown ups were so stressed out around the holidays! There's a lot involved, from the parties to making sure you get all the gifts and other things checked off your list, plus as a photographer this is my busy season!

Let's remember what this Holiday is all about and focus on what's most important. Its too easy to get caught up in the material and business of our schedules but lets stop to really soak in all the warmth, magical, coziness of it all.

From my family to yours we want to wish you all the very merriest Christmas!

All I want for Christmas is Peace, Joy and Love and maybe some snow. Its in the forecast this weekend and I can't contain my excitement, one of the reasons we moved out of the city and into our mountain town.

DIY flower crown

I've been asked how I make my flower crowns for sessions so I put together a little "how to" for you! I love the added texture and pop they add to photos, you can also wear them to parties or events!
My little helper loved watching me put this together.

All you need for materials are
Green florist wire
Rope wire to match hair color

Start by cutting the rope wire and measure it around the head to fit, start twisting to make it stay.

Grab the green florist wire and cut a bunch of pieces approximately 10 inches in length.

Carefully poke the wire through the flower through the base.

place the flower on the rope wire where desired and begin wrapping the florist wire around the rope wire until its secure.

Continue wrapping flowers and greenery around, be extra careful with succulents, they are very fragile!

Once you have as many or as little flowers that you desire around the rope wire, trim any excess pieces that might be sticking out. That's it! Happy flower crown making.
